The Value of Trying

Here’s the thing: You just have to try.  You just have to put it out into the world.  You just have to get over the fear of what people will think.  You just have to accept who you are.  You just have to let go.  You just have to sing if you can, and bang on something.  You have to let them know.  You just have to make something from nothing.  You have to laugh.  You have to close your eyes and see what it would be like.  You just have to dream out loud.

It helps if someone has a video camera handy.

Here’s my latest tune, recorded with the TJs.

About bestbathroombooks

I run a small publishing company and am presently seeking the funniest, coolest and most marketable ideas to sell in places like Urban Outfitters, Papyrus, college bookstores and independent bookstores in the Humor Sections. Contact me through this blog or better at www.bestbathroombooks.com. There are some talented people out there writing good, funny, conceptual books and blogging some funny stuff. I wish I had time to read more and write more. I have a day gig and do a lot of other things, but blogging helps me stay connected to my laptop and ensures sterility (due to EMF on my testicles) which is great because I've had enough kids. Les

I dig. It reminds me a little bit of Bruce Springsteen, Pernice Brothers and Van Morrison. That is some talent being able to play drums and sing at the same time.

  2. Thanks 7. I really appreciate it. I’ve been playing drums so long it’s second nature. Thanks for the props of those artists too. I only wish.
Back to the snide posts now.

  3. Not too shabby! Sounds like road trip music to me 🙂

  4. Thanks. I’ll take that. There’s some program out there, I think it’s called youtube to MP3. You can pretty much steal anything off the internet now. You have my permission.

I would say it was great but the drummer just really drags it down for me 🙂 Just kidding. Nice work! I dig it.

  6. Ha! That’s hilarious. I love a good critic. I like the drunk girl carrying the other drunk girl during the guitar solo. I just found out from the bass player that he had a bunch more “drunk girl” footage. I shoulda put it in. They are more attractive than me.

  7. Haha 😀 that first paragraph had me going …. Although ,if I may ,there doesn’t seem to be any ‘just’ amount ,you keep going till you can.

  8. Gillian Colbert says:

    Love the song!

  9. That’s an interesting comment because I’ve been accused of using “just” too much. I guess it suggests the will to try, or maybe, I’m trying to make trying seem less intimidating.
I’m just sayin’ (as opposed to “I’m sayin”).

  10. Joe says:

Incredible. The man can sing while playing drums backwards. The bomb digidy.
